Y’all. I know that this is just a goofy blog where I post goofy things, but believe me, it’s actually been oh my mind that I haven’t been recapping the absolute GEMS of these past few weeks. (“I will single-handedly tear him to shreds with my bare hands.” Or something. Michelle Money, I LOVE you.)I don’t want to get too deep for a “Bachelor Nation” blog, but the reason for my absence is that in July, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphona, and have been undergoing chemotherapy since early August.
This is in an incredibly treatable disease. We caught it super early. My medical team is awesome. And I’m an otherwise healthy thirty-two year old. Right now there’s a good chance that I’ll be receiving my last chemo treatment in early November and then hopefully, hopefully, never dealing with this again. But, like, I planned to finally watch the finale during my treatment yesterday—and they’re usually incredibly boring, have you seen “Breaking Bad?”—you just sit there and enjoy free wireless—and just ended up being too sick to do it. The day is coming, though, when I will get some goofy memes up here. Anyway, I hope to be done with this all by November. And you know what that means: I will be back in fighting form in January to recap the Journey of one Bachelor Chris Soules. HELL yeah. In the meantime, I’m going to be covering the finale, throwing up some gems that didn’t quite make it from previous episodes, maybe going back and visiting some earlier seasons (Tina Fabulous is EVERYTHING) and maybe expanding this silly thing to include outside submissions? Why am I telling you this? It sounds ridiculous, but even though I have an amazing support team of my friends, my family, my boyfriend, and my co-workers, and even though this could be so much worse and will be over with soon—hearing you have cancer is still scary as hell. This is  teaching me every day to appreciate what I have, both big and small, and make the most of the time when I feel well, but there truly are times when it’s been great to just collapse in front of something fun like this show, post a few memes, and smile when I see that someone out there liked what I posted and thought it was funny.
See you guys, soon, and until then—#YOPO.
I have to talk some stuff out with a raccoon now.
